Recovering Forgotten Estates
Most of the cases we process involve property owned by individuals who emigrated from Eastern Europe in the first half of the 1900s. Often times they inherited this property after they emigrated.
When the communists took power, much of the real estate, especially agricultural land, was confiscated by the state. The rights of the owners were stripped away and they went to their graves believing that those rights would never be restored.
At the end of the 1980s, the communists were ousted. The new governments restored land ownership rights, but, after several decades, the land offices had lost track of many owners, especially those that had emigrated.

Our Mission
We identify abandoned property, track down the rightful heirs, and facilitate the asset recovery process.

Deadline
Some governments have set deadlines to resolve all remaining abandoned property claims. After this date, the government will take ownership of unclaimed property through the escheatment process.

Eminent Domain
Even though there is a deadline to settle claims, state authorities are moving aggressively to confiscate abandoned property earlier if there is a compelling reason to do so. For example, the government can quickly take property through eminent domain as part of an infrastructure project.
